Pi Alpha Alpha is a National Honor Society for Public Affairs and Administration. The Rutgers-Newark Pi Alpha Alpha Chapter alumni board welcomes new members at the annual induction ceremony taking place on graduation day each Spring. The board holds events throughout the academic year to bring together Pi Alpha Alpha members in a continuing professional network.
The following alumni serve as the Pi Alpha Alpha board:
- President: Andre Mitchell (MPA 2006), Senior Civil State Investigator, Office of the Attorney General, State of New Jersey.
- Vice President: Corrado Gigante (MPA 2006), Director of the Newark Area Office of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
- Secretary: Theresa Peterson (MPA 2001), Human Resources Manager at the Office of the Attorney General, Division of Consumer Affairs, State of New Jersey.
- Treasurer: Sheldon Presser (Executive MPA 2001) Senior Policy Analyst, Association for Children of New Jersey.
Students who meet the strict academic standard of Pi Alpha Alpha (3.7 GPA and completion of more than 50 percent of their public affairs or public administration curriculum) are offered induction into the honor society each spring.
